This is a sample video I made showing the animation of a really simple everyday object as a practice for the ‘Moving Image’ project we are currently doing at Uni.

‘Getting Inside the Outsider’ – Competition Binding Design

So the deadline for this competition is on Monday the 10th, and i’ve finally drawn out my three Illustrations (which will be posted as soon as I’ve edited them on photoshop) and finished the book. I wanted to leave the front cover design until after I had read the entire book incase I found some imagery that might be better than that earlier in the story. It wasn’t until after I finished the book I decided I wanted to design a more general cover rather than something specific to the plot line. So here it is. I would like to add this is just a rough design as the competition states the cover design does not have to be the finished imagery, just an idea.

‘The City’ Final model

Here are two pictures of my final model I am using for the short animation I will hopefully make for my City final outcome. It is based on the idea of materialism within a city, and how the contrast between rich and poor is so bold in some city centres.

‘The City’.

We’ve now been given our new brief in which we have to create a visual essay on a theme of our choice relating to the city. For my theme I have chosen materialism. Some of the main basis for our research for this project was done on the trip we took to Manchester to get a different perspective on cities other than that of Cardiff. The thing I immediately noticed, was how in the centre, you have very rough areas and streets, but if you look up, there are very modern expensive apartments. I am going to base my project on this contrast and how the two very different worlds interact and adapt with each other.

I have started out by looking at the lower areas of the city, so poverty, and homelessness etc. I am researching into some stories of homeless people and have started a few sketches of possible characters I could use in┬áthe narrative I plan on creating. I quite enjoyed doing this illustration, as it has been a while since I’ve done something that wasn’t quite neatly finished. I used quite a scratchy technique on this drawing, and when I painted it all the colours and ink bled together which I think adds to the effect, as I wanted the character to look quite messy.
